Studies show that having untreated sleep apnea can wreak havoc on your brain. Lack of sleep, oxygen deficiency, as well as a myriad of other cardiovascular and pulmonary issues can cause memory loss, reduction in cognitive function, and cell death in the brain. Though sleep apnea is severe and can cause these brain injuries, it is essential to realize that this damage may not be permanent.   Multiple studies show that in many cases patients who undergo proper treatment and sleep therapy regain full use of their memories and cognitive functions.

If you are concerned that you may have sleep apnea, you should talk to your doctor today. Some of the symptoms and issues caused by sleep apnea are extensive and can be disheartening; however, there are simple and effective treatment plans that can ease some of the problems immediately. If you were previously tested and diagnosed with sleep apnea, and you feel your treatment is not correcting some of the other health issues caused by your apnea, contact your doctor right away. The problems with your sleep therapy could be as simple as the wrong pressure or a leaking hose. Either way, you want to get the issues handled right away.
